Finance Manager - Europe Reporting

Responsible to: Financial Controller North Europe

Department: Finance

Location: JD Group Head Office, Bury, Greater Manchester, BL9 8RR

Role Overview:

This position is a key role within the Europe Reporting Team and the overall JD Finance Team. As a Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include the production of a robust set of management accounts across multiple countries/companies with P&L and balance sheet analysis to allow management review. The role will be responsible for the production of the statutory accounts in line with local GAAP and managing the external audit to completion. The role will manage a team of two to deliver to group deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the production of the monthly P&Ls and Balance Sheet, understanding variances and trends.
2. Production of monthly reporting packs with analysis and commentary, presenting these to the Head of International Finance and Retail Team.
3. Responsibility for the monthly balance sheet reconciliation with sign off on a monthly and quarterly basis.
4. Production of balance sheet and cashflow pack with KPI summary.
5. Continual review of processes including purchase ledger, banking and trade receivables, ensuring relevant controls are in place.
6. Production of reporting to feed into the monthly Group Board Pack.
7. Responsibility for the half-year and year-end provision calculations.
8. Responsible for the region’s submission into the group half-year and year-end statutory reporting.
9. Responsibility for other statutory reporting including national statistics and intra-stat.
10. Cashflow management and forecasting.
11. Key point of contact for the region with AP, AR, and treasury teams.
12. Planning, managing, and completing the year-end audits.
13. Production of the annual statutory accounts in line with local GAAPs including the annual management report.
14. Responsible for annual filing of company accounts.
15. Main local point of contact for VAT and Tax submissions, queries, and audits.
16. Proactively resolve queries.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge Needed:

1. CIMA / ACCA / ACA Qualified Accountant.
2. Retail experience advantageous.
3. Management accounts / core finance experience essential.
4. Advanced Excel skills; TM1 experience not essential but an advantage.
5. Excellent attention to detail.
6. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
7. Positive, flexible, enthusiastic, and driven.
