Finance Manager (Pathology Business Unit)

Salary: £46,148 to £52,809 a year, including high cost allowance

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to join our Pathology Business Unit as a Finance Manager. This role will work across both Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to support the delivery of a new partnership aimed at transforming Pathology services across south east London.

This partnership will deliver and transform Pathology services across south east London, serving a population of around 1.7 million and providing services for both primary and secondary care providers.

The programme aims to deliver significant transformation through digital pathology implementation and the creation of a clinically-led target operating model with new hub and essential services laboratories on each site, working through unified pathways. This will improve service performance, outcomes, efficiency, and position SEL at the forefront of R&D and Innovation, while delivering material savings for Trusts and sharing risks and gains based on milestone achievements.

The post holder will provide financial support to the Pathology Business Unit (PBU) team and GSTT/KCH in all financial and commercial matters related to the service, acting as a business partner and first point of contact for finance queries.

Main duties of the job

Financial Management

  • Provide expert finance business partnering support for the PBU in regular and ad hoc financial management and planning activities.
  • Design and prepare monthly finance reports and forecasts, discussing these with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager in annual financial planning, ensuring accuracy and strategic alignment.

Strategy and Planning

  • Assist in producing the PBU's financial plans, maintaining and developing financial templates, costing proposed changes, and assessing budget and staffing requirements.
  • Develop business cases and support service leaders in financial planning and income enhancement strategies.
  • Manage capital cost centres and ensure accurate reflection of costs and budgets in accounts.

Leadership

  • Provide financial leadership and present complex information to senior staff.
  • Ensure compliance with financial instructions and promote best practices.
  • Support financial literacy through training and effective communication across disciplines.
