Not disclosed law firm in Luton is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the Finance department and Accounts team, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements. You will manage reconciliations, reporting, payroll, and internal controls, while partnering with leadership on budgeting and financial strategy.

The role requires experience in a law firm finance function, strong accounting skills, and effective leadership.

Qualifications

• Be AAT qualified or part-qualified with practical experience.
• Experience in bookkeeping, financial controls and accounting processes.
• Experience in a law firm finance function; legal cashiering advantageous.
• Knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and their application.
• Experience managing or supporting Accounts team members.
• Strong attention to detail and financial controls.
• Experience using accounting systems and financial management software.
• Strong communication and collaboration across a firm.
• Familiarity with legal aid accounting processes is beneficial.
• Proactive, organised and keen to develop in legal finance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day running of the Finance department.
• Lead and support the Accounts team with guidance.
• Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee client and office accounts, reconciliations and reporting.
• Support annual Solicitors Accounts Rules audit process.
• Assist budgeting, financial planning and management reporting for Partners.
• Assist with annual financial statements and liaise with external accountants.
• Monitor financial controls, systems and processes; identify improvements.
• Manage monthly payroll with HR team.
• Support senior leadership on wider financial and operational matters.
• Manage supplier relationships and key service contracts.
• Promote strong financial controls and meet departmental deadlines.
