The charity is seeking an experienced Finance professional to manage its financial functions, ensuring adherence to accounting best practices.
The candidate will assist with monitoring budgets, working with ledgers, and auditing.
Responsibilities of a Financial Manager include:
- Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts in collaboration with senior management and the Board.
- Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor financial trends, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend improvements.
- Budget Management:
- Manage the annual budgeting process, including preparation, review, and approval.
- Monitor budget performance, track variances, and update management regularly.
- Align budgets with program objectives and funding requirements.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and policies.
- Coordinate external audits and address findings promptly.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Manage cash flow projections and ensure operational funding needs are met.
- Monitor cash balances, investments, and banking activities to optimize liquidity.
- Implement strategies to mitigate risks and improve cash flow.
- Grant and Contract Management:
- Oversee financial aspects of grants, contracts, and donor funds, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Promote accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
- Minimum of [X] years in financial management, accounting, or auditing, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulations.
- Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
