The Commercial Finance Team plays a crucial role in shaping and delivering Sainsbury’s strategy. In a highly competitive industry that never stands still, there is always a lot going on, and Finance has a key role in challenging ways of working and driving transformation. Our main focus is on forecasting and maximising sales, profit, return on investment, and cash flow.

This role is responsible for partnering our Health, Beauty & Wellness team, providing them with best-in-class finance support. The role includes:

• Partnering with the Category Director and buyers, involving in category planning and analysis to support decision-making
• Providing sound financial appraisals for projects, tenders, and value-add workstreams to help achieve and exceed targets set by the Business Unit Director
• Conducting ad hoc analyses on promotional strategies, trials, seasonal activities, sub-brands, trading intensity, product/buyer profitability, capital investment, etc.
• Supporting the Head of Finance and Director by advising on performance and communicating project progress and financial outcomes
• Ensuring financial rigour, compliance with standards, and providing challenge and support to ensure accurate figures
• Assisting in budgeting processes and providing training and tools to the Trading team to enhance commercial awareness and decision-making

More about you

• Qualified accountant – CIMA/ACCA/ACA
• Strong Commercial Finance experience, ideally in FMCG
• Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, power pivots, macros)
• Effective communication and business partnering skills with senior stakeholders
• Proven ability to work independently
• Self-motivated with good time management and prioritisation skills
• Impactful and influential
• Ability to articulate finance concepts to non-finance colleagues
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
