Finance Manager - Financial Planning and Analysis

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Boots Opticians finance team, reporting into the Head of FP&A. The Opticians FP&A manager is responsible for telling the overall performance story for the business, with fantastic exposure to the Opticians Leadership Team. The role incorporates ownership of the monthly and quarterly trading narrative, engaging with an internal and external business audience, as well as the wider Group and also our external shareholders, De Rigo. In addition to this, the role is responsible for coordination of the monthly and quarterly executive reviews, rolling forecast, budget and 3-year plan, leading these processes within finance and liaising with senior leaders. This role is critical to the delivery of all business, Group and shareholder reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support business, Group and shareholder performance reporting and supplementary analysis, providing meaningful insights to evaluate our financial position.
  2. Own coordination and collation of the forecast, budget and 3-year plan.
  3. Assess risks and opportunities to help guide decisions.
  4. Maintain close partnership working across the finance function and with stakeholders across business areas and the wider Group.
  5. Support central Boots FP&A team with business insight.
  6. Ad hoc support to Head of Finance, Finance Director & Managing Director.
  7. Drive process efficiency across all month end and planning cycle activities.
  8. Line management of an FP&A analyst.

What you'll need to have

These are the essential skills needed to succeed in this role.

  1. Qualified Accountant.
  2. Proven record of managing financial planning processes (e.g. management of company/functional budgets).
  3. Strong analytical skills, ability to drive insight and create narrative at pace.
  4. Good communicator and able to manage diverse workload to tight deadlines.
  5. Strong knowledge of Excel.
  6. Willingness to learn new concepts, embrace the working environment and integrate into wider finance and business teams.

  1. Understanding of consolidation systems is desirable (Cognos, Planning Analytics).
