Job description
Overview

We're looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day financial control and accounting function and play a key role in supporting Oddbox as we grow. This is a brilliant opportunity for a hands-on, detail-oriented finance professional to join a purpose-led SME and build strong financial foundations that scale with the business.

You'll report to our Senior Finance Manager and work closely with internal teams to drive accurate reporting, smooth processes, and meaningful insights. As Oddbox continues to evolve its proposition and grow its impact, you'll ensure our finance systems and operations grow alongside it.

This is a broad and high-impact role - ideal for someone who has worked in a consumer led food or drinks based business and is now looking to take on more ownership and responsibility. Exposure to Subscription Models is a definite plus.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
  • Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and the month-end close process
  • Manage cash flow and support cash consolidation at a detailed level
  • Own the statutory audit process and liaise with auditors
  • Support compliance processes, including VAT, R&D claims, and EMI schemes
  • Improve and automate core finance processes and reporting
  • Ensure data integrity and hierarchy across financial systems
  • Support our ERP system with a strong understanding of stock and stock control
  • Act as a partner to the wider business, providing financial insights and challenge where needed
  • Line manage and support the development of our Finance Assistant
Required Skills
  • Strong financial reporting and month-end close expertise
  • Cash flow forecasting and working capital management
  • Confident in ERP systems and comfortable improving system processes
  • Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills and attention to detail
  • Clear and confident communicator - able to explain finance to non-finance teams
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
Required Experience
  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent), with 6+ years' relevant experience
  • Experience as a Finance Manager, Accounting Manager, or FP&A Manager in an SME or similar-sized business
  • Exposure to both management accounting and statutory reporting
  • Hands-on experience managing audits and liaising with external advisors
  • Experience with stock accounting and ERP systems
  • Line management or mentoring experience preferred
Required Mindset & Behaviours
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical and curious, always looking to improve how things are done
  • Process-driven and comfortable implementing best practice
  • Commercial mindset - sees the bigger picture and how finance supports growth
  • Collaborative and approachable - a natural relationship-builder across teams
  • Passionate about purpose and motivated by Oddbox's mission
Nice to Have
  • Experience in a D2C, FMCG or sustainability-focused business
  • Previous exposure to scaling finance systems during business growth
  • Knowledge of R&D tax relief, EMI schemes or other HMRC processes
  • Familiarity with tools like Xero, Unleashed or other cloud-based finance platforms
Why Join Us
  • Work with a purpose-driven team tackling food waste at scale
  • Drive change in a sustainability-focused tech business
  • Hybrid working and a collaborative culture in our Vauxhall office
  • Unique opportunity to shape and deliver mission-critical growth projects
  • Be part of a certified B Corp doing business for good
