Job description

Finance Manager - Building Safety Unit, Coalville

This role reports to the Finance Director and involves managing the Divisional finance functions and team to ensure departmental integrity and efficiency. Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.
  2. Supporting the Finance Director in strategic and operational finance activities, including managing accounts and leading the finance team.
  3. Line management of the Management Accountant and Accounts Assistant.
  4. Preparing monthly forecasts and three-year plans aligned with group schedules.
  5. Collaborating with other departments and directors to gather data for accurate forecasting.
  6. Maintaining backup data for forecasts.
  7. Managing overall cash flow.
  8. Assisting in cost control and active participation in valuation processes.
  9. Reviewing management accounts and reconciliations.
  10. Providing monthly statistics for the board.
  11. Preparing consolidated packs for audits.
  12. Reviewing annual accounts and tax submissions.
  13. Managing quarterly reports.
  14. Liaising with finance team members for departmental efficiency.
  15. Coaching and managing the finance team.
  16. Performing ad-hoc duties and deputising for the Finance Director when needed.
  17. Handling queries from group, regional, and divisional levels.
Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates should be professionally qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with post-qualification experience, preferably in a commercial setting within the house-building sector. Experience in budgeting, performance monitoring, and cost control is essential. The ideal candidate will be disciplined, well-organized, commercially aware, data-savvy, confident, resilient, proactive, and an effective communicator.
