Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council in Aberystwyth is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to join the Service Accountancy Team within Finance and Procurement on a permanent, full-time basis. You will oversee and develop financial support across council services, drive budget setting, in-year monitoring, and year-end closing, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Qualifications

• Fully or part-qualified accountant, AAT qualified or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and assist with managing the team that provides financial support to various Council Services, including Economy and Regeneration, Legal and Governance, People and Organisation, Policy Performance & Public Protection and Democratic Services, ensuring effective budget setting, in-year financial monitoring, and closure of accounts as well as managing key external funding streams.
• Identify and escape significant financial issues to senior management with actionable recommendations.
• Advise services on financial governance and adhere to the Council’s financial regulations
• Provide financial advice and support to Corporate Lead Officers, senior managers, budget managers and colleagues to the highest professional standards and within prescribed timescales
• Provide professional financial advice and analysis to support the Council’s strategic plans and Medium-Term Financial Strategy
• To complete various statutory returns and grant claims.
