Job description

POSITION:Senior Manager - Finance

DURATION OF POST:Permanent

HOURS:30 – 37.5 Hours per week YG’s core business hours are Monday-Friday 9-5.30pm however due to the nature and pressing need of our work all YG staff may be required to complete work outside of these hours.

SALARY:£45,000 - £48,000 per annum (pro rata)

HOLIDAY:25 days per annum plus bank holidays

PENSION:Auto enrolment pension in place

RESPONSIBLE TO:CEO

LOCATION:Your normal place of work will be one of the following offices

- The Old Dock Office, Commercial Road, Glos, GL1 2EB,

- Graphic House, Greyfriars, Glos, GL1 1TS

but you agree to perform your duties in such other place or places as we may reasonably require from time to time.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled UK recognised qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent) with senior-level charity finance experience, excellent analytical and leadership skills, and a strong track record in organisational operations and governance.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

· To lead on the budgeting of the organisation, maintaining up to date and accurate budgets to ensure effective management of funds and break-even budgets.

· Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organisation's long-term sustainability, aligning budgets with the charity's mission and strategic goals and ever-changing funding providers and projects.

· To ensure all financial transactions comply with the current financial and charitable legislation including Charities SORP (FRS102), and the Charity Commission rules and regulations.

· Strengthen Financial Governance and Compliance - Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, charity law, and

donor requirements, including timely preparation of statutory accounts and audit processes (Pension, HMRC, Charities Commission and Charities House.)

· To lead and manage the finance function of the charity, including direct supervision of the finance team, and to carry out any necessary financial duties to ensure the effective operation of the organisation.

· Enhance Financial Planning and Budgeting - Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning of the charity, providing accurate forecasting, financial modelling, and scenario planning to support leadership decisions.

· To ensure credit control, aged debtors and cash flow is managed.

· To be a part of the Senior Management team of YG providing leadership and management as required to the wider organisation.

· Promote Financial Literacy and Capacity building - Build financial awareness and capacity across the organisation by training non-financial staff and ensuring budget holders understand and manage their financial responsibilities effectively to allow strategic decision making and form part of this process.

· Treasury management.

· To ensure all staff are paid promptly and appropriately in line with legislation and HMRC requirements.

· Manage YG’s pension programmes and ensure processes are implemented as appropriate.

· Undertake other duties as requested by the CEO that are commensurate with the seniority of the role.

· To ensure monthly Management Accounts are prepared including Income and Expenditure, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reports, and explain variances against budget to the CEO, the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.

· To ensure the tracking and monitor income and expenditure for funding /grants / programmes /projects and provide financial information to support the periodic reports required by the various funders.

· To ensure monthly Operating Statements are created for each department of the organisation and explain variances against budget to the CEO and Senior Managers.

· To ensure inhouse payroll processes in coordination with People and Resources.

· To ensure preparation of audit schedules ahead of the annual audit and assist the auditors with the preparation of the Financial Statements.

· To participate and facilitate the investment committee.

· Maintain professional relationships (including auditors).

· Commitment to continued CPD.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The following are the criteria that will be used for shortlisting:

· An appropriate UK recognised qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent)) and a proven track record working in a senior finance role preferably with a charitable or not for profit organisation.

· Strong analytical and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and consistently meet deadlines.

· Excellent working knowledge of SAGE Line 50, Excel and understanding of payroll processing.

· Excellent IT skills including fast and accurate use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Databases.

· Excellent management skills.

· An advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel is essential, financial reporting is produced using Excel. Experience of working with ODBC and Queries to import financial transactions from Sage 50 to Excel and the use of Pivot Tables and Macros within Excel is mandatory and must be demonstrated during the recruitment process.

· Experience of Quality Assurance and Moderation procedures.

· Experience of Audit management and delivery.

· Ability to interrogate complex information and make plans accordingly.

· Understanding of Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and YG’s culture.

· High level of communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, including experience of writing accurate and concise reports

· Ability to work effectively as part of a team with shared and overlapping objectives.

· A mature, proactive and diplomatic approach, with the ability to work unsupervised.

· Confident communicator with an ability to liaise and work with people at all levels.

· Ability to work flexibly and take on training when required.

· Experience of working in the charitable and/or voluntary sector.

· Experience of working at a senior level.

· Current clean Driving Licence.
