Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an Interim Finance Manager for a respected charitable organisation in West Yorkshire. The role blends management accounting, business partnering, financial planning and charity fund accounting within a collaborative hybrid-working environment.

You will lead monthly management reporting, support budgeting and forecasting, manage fund accounting and contribute to year-end processes while ensuring Charity SORP compliance and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) status or be qualified by experience.
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting and business partnering.
• Knowledge of Charity SORP and fund accounting would be beneficial but is not essential.

Description

Describe the Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

• Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful variance analysis.
• Deliver financial insights and performance reporting to senior leadership teams.
• Support decision-making through accurate and timely financial information.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Support the annual budgeting process across multiple departments.
• Prepare regular forecasts and financial projections.
• Work closely with budget holders to monitor performance against budget.
• Provide constructive challenge and support to ensure effective use of resources.

Charity & Fund Accounting

• Maintain accurate accounting records for restricted, unrestricted and designated funds.
• Monitor grant funding and expenditure to ensure compliance with funding conditions.
• Produce financial reports and returns for funders.
• Support compliance with Charity SORP and relevant accounting standards.

Financial Control

• Maintain robust financial controls and governance processes.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Support year-end accounts preparation and external audit processes.
• Contribute to risk management and internal control activities.

Business Partnering

• Act as a trusted finance partner to operational managers.
• Present financial information clearly and confidently to stakeholders.
• Improve financial understanding across non-finance teams.
• Support managers in making informed commercial and operational decisions.

Profile

A successful Finance Manager should have:

• Strong experience in financial management and reporting.
• A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
• Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to stakeholders.
