Finance Manager – 4 days per week - National

Are you an experienced Finance Manager keen to join a growing organisation that makes a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of children and adults through the healing power of music? Charity People is delighted to be partnering with a £1 million turnover organisation to help recruit a part-time Finance Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage one Finance Assistant. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will oversee all processes and controls that contribute to management accounts preparation, and you will also be business partnering with the Senior Leadership Team and budget holders.

This is a pivotal time to join this inspiring charity, with a supportive and strong CEO and staff.

Salary: £40,000 per annum (pro-rata for 30 hours per week)

Contract: Part-time, 30 hours per week, Permanent
Location: Remote-based with occasional travel to London. Applicants from across the UK are encouraged to apply.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing daily financial operations, working with the Finance Assistant to ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  2. Leading the completion of month-end processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations (including restricted funds), and control account maintenance.
  3. Assisting the Head of Finance in drafting management accounts and cash flow statements.
  4. Providing financial business partnering support to the Senior Leadership Team and managers.
  5. Collating and providing monthly payroll information to external providers, reconciling payroll outputs with financial records.
  6. Supporting the Head of Finance in preparing year-end financial statements in accordance with the Charity SORP and statutory requirements.
  7. Acting as the primary contact for the annual audit, liaising with auditors and preparing necessary documentation.
  8. Managing relationships with banking, payment platforms (Stripe, CAF, Paypal, etc.), and financial systems (Sage).
  9. Monitoring bank accounts, authorising payments, and ensuring accurate reporting.
  10. Reconciling fundraising data between CRM (Beacon) and Financial System (Sage).
  11. Leading and empowering the Finance Assistant.

Candidate requirements:

  • Qualified by experience (QBE), or holding a CCAB-recognised qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA), or working towards such a qualification.
  • Experience producing management accounts and providing narrative explanations.
  • Experience supporting or leading year-end processes and audits.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with budget holders and challenge them respectfully.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proactive approach.
  • Experience working with Sage 50.
