A small finance company in Cambridge is seeking an experienced finance professional for a 12-month fixed-term contract. Responsibilities include month-end close, budget setting, financial reporting, and ensuring timely completion of ledgers. Ideal candidates should possess excellent communication skills and experience in finance, with remote work flexibility available. Experience in the not-for-profit sector is a plus, but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for month-end close and reporting.
  • Set annual and project budgets.
  • Produce financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.

  • Conduct financial analysis.
  • Close ledgers in a timely manner.

Job description

Our client has an urgent requirement for an experienced finance professional to join them on a 12 month fixed-term contract covering for maternity leave.

The role will be standalone and will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance function for this small company and duties will include.

  • Ensuring timely month-end close and reporting to HQ
  • Annual and project budget setting
  • Producing forecasts
  • Quarterly VAT return preparation and submission
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Financial analysis
  • Ensuring ledgers are closed off in a timely manner

This role will suit someone who enjoys being busy and has excellent communication skills. Ideally qualified, candidate who have the right experience or are studying towards a qualification will also be considered.

Whilst there is no parking onsite, as the offices are centrally based they are easily accessible by public transport and you will also have the opportunity to work remotely 3 days one week and 2 the next on a fortnightly rotation.

Experience working in the not for profit sector would be highly desirable as is exposure to grants but this is not a deal breaker.
