Job summary

George Blake Limited is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager for an initial six‑month contract. You will oversee day‑to‑day accounting, deliver timely month‑end outputs and manage a small team to ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), strong technical accounting skills and the ability to drive process improvements while collaborating across the finance function.

Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities and ensure accurate records with compliant processes.
• Coordinate month‑end activities with the Management Accountant to meet reporting deadlines.
• Prepare and review reconciliations and schedules across P&L and balance sheet.
• Ensure regulatory returns are completed accurately and submitted on time.
• Lead and develop a team of three, sharing best practice and strengthening capabilities.
• Identify and implement process improvements and support changing business needs.

Finance Manager - Initial 6-Month Contract | Inside IR35

We are recruiting a hands‑on Finance Manager to join our client's finance team on an initial six‑month contract.

This is a varied accounting role, responsible for day‑to‑day financial management, accurate reporting and the smooth running of finance processes. Working across the profit and loss account, balance sheet and regulatory returns, you will combine strong technical accounting skills with a practical, collaborative approach.

You will work closely alongside the Management Accountant to deliver timely, reliable outputs in line with the month‑end timetable, while managing and developing a team of three. The role will suit someone comfortable adapting to changing priorities and getting involved across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, effective processes and compliance with relevant requirements.
• Coordinate month‑end accounting activities, working closely with the Management Accountant to meet reporting deadlines.
• Prepare and review reconciliations and supporting schedules across the profit and loss account and balance sheet.
• Ensure regulatory returns are completed accurately and submitted on time.
• Lead and develop a team of three, sharing best practice, strengthening capabilities and supporting consistent delivery.
• Identify and implement process improvements, adapting responsibilities and providing hands‑on support as the team and business needs evolve.

About You

• Fully qualified accountant — ACA, ACCA or CIMA — with relevant post‑qualification experience.
• Degree‑qualified, with a strong technical accounting background and experience in a hands‑on finance role.
• Confident working across month‑end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, financial controls and regulatory returns.
• Previous experience managing and developing a finance team.
• Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• A collaborative, adaptable approach, with the confidence to improve processes and support colleagues through change.
