What you'll be doing?

Our Finance teams do more than process numbers; they collect vital information that informs decisions and drives our business. This role is at the heart of our commerciality.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will contribute to the overall success of the business by supporting the Finance Director in managing the Finance team effectively.

You will be expected to:

1. Support the Finance Director in ensuring the Finance team is fully resourced, well-directed, with clear responsibilities, and supported through communication, training, and workload organization.
2. Provide cover for the Finance Director in their absence to ensure smooth department operations.
3. Assist with accurate monthly forecasting and the development of the Divisional 3-5 year business plan in line with Regional/Group requirements.
4. Participate in surveying/valuation meetings and provide appropriate challenge.
5. Assist with financial management and reporting as required.
6. Support payment and payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness using Group systems.
7. Identify and resolve issues impacting the Division significantly.
8. Ensure Division systems reflect the latest information, such as build programs and sales status.
9. Ensure compliance with the Group Accounts Manual regarding Cash Management and operate within cash budgets.
10. Assist in reporting to the MD and Divisional Board, including preparing Finance Board reports and presentations.
11. Complete ad hoc divisional and cross-departmental projects as necessary.
12. Promote and act in accordance with Group values, systems, policies, and procedures.

What you'll need

To succeed, you should have:

1. A professionally qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience in a senior commercial accounting role, preferably within the house-building sector.
2. Strong leadership skills with the drive and tenacity to achieve business goals.
3. The ability to challenge appropriately and maintain financial controls as the conscience of the Division.
4. High numeracy with strong IT and financial analysis skills, capable of interpreting data and assessing business impacts.
5. Experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and planning work to meet targets.
6. The confidence and professionalism to contribute to overall business management.
7. Self-confidence, decisiveness, resilience, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
8. A motivational leader focused on coaching and developing team members to reach their potential.
