Finance Manager Opportunity at a Cornish Services Business

Trial Balance Consulting has been exclusively engaged by a well-established Cornish services business that is urgently seeking an experienced Finance Manager. This key role involves managing the financial health of the business and is offered on a full-time, permanent basis based in the St Ives area (with onsite parking).

Working closely with the management team, including the Managing Director and an offsite Finance Director, the Finance Manager will handle a diverse range of financial responsibilities across multiple business entities in various industry sectors. Key duties include:

1. Supervising, developing, and mentoring a small team of transactional accounting staff
2. Managing day-to-day financial operations of multiple company accounts
3. Producing management accounts and financial reports with commentary
4. Overseeing the Accounts Payable/Receivable functions for group entities
5. Managing cash flow
6. Serving as a point of contact for external partners such as clients, banks, and Chartered Accountants
7. Handling VAT reporting
8. Assisting with year-end audit preparations
9. Preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses

Ideal candidates will be experienced Management Accountants or Finance Managers, preferably (though not necessarily) AAT, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, with strong end-to-end accounting process knowledge. Experience in a group company setting is highly desirable, but candidates with solid commercial acumen from any industry sector are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in IT systems, especially MS Excel and digital platforms like Sage or Xero, is essential. Leadership experience and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, as the role involves managing a team and engaging across all departments.
