Job summary

Carrington Wood is seeking a Finance Manager to own the finance function within a growing business operating across multiple sales channels. You will lead monthly management accounts, mentor a Finance Assistant, and strengthen financial controls while partnering with senior leadership to drive growth.

We are looking for a commercially minded professional with strong accounting systems knowledge and Excel skills to influence strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong experience in management accounting and monthly closes.
• Experience with multi‑site/retail environments is advantageous.

• Take full ownership of monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet).
• Lead and mentor Finance Assistant; ensure accurate processing.

Finance Manager – Permanent

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE

Are you a commercially minded Finance Manager looking for an opportunity to make a real impact within a growing and ambitious business?

Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function within a successful business operating across multiple sales channels. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, helping drive business performance while developing robust financial processes to support continued growth.

This role offers genuine autonomy, broad commercial exposure and the chance to play a key role in the strategic direction of a dynamic organisation.

The successful candidate will have strong management accounting experience, excellent commercial awareness and enjoy working within a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

What You'll Be Doing

• Taking full ownership of the monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reporting
• Managing and mentoring a Finance Assistant, ensuring accurate and timely financial processing
• Overseeing inventory accounting, stock reconciliations and cost of goods sold (COGS)
• Managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes while implementing improvements where required
• Reconciling multiple sales channels and payment platforms
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning
• Producing variance analysis and providing commercial insight into business performance
• Monitoring business performance, analysing profitability and supporting strategic decision-making
• Ensuring VAT compliance and maintaining strong financial controls
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance systems, reporting and internal processes

What We're Looking For

• Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Previous experience within a Finance Manager or Management Accountant position
• Strong experience preparing monthly management accounts
• Knowledge of inventory accounting, stock management and cost of goods sold
• Experience within retail, FMCG, manufacturing or multi‑site environments would be advantageous
• Strong systems knowledge with experience using modern accounting software
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to influence business decisions
• Excellent organisational skills with a proactive and hands‑on approach
