Job summary

Venture Recruitment Partners is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager in Basingstoke to lead the finance function. The role covers day-to-day operations, reporting to the MD, and partnering with the leadership team in a growing business.

The successful candidate will own month-end closes, budgeting, statutory reporting, and financial controls, with scope to implement improvements in a supportive, autonomous environment. Salary circa £50K plus benefits, with Flex available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Qualified or part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or with experience).
• Standalone/SME finance experience.
• Strong Excel and core finance systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and board reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
• Prepare statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
• Oversee payroll, VAT returns and tax compliance.
• Manage sales and purchase ledgers where required.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close; develop KPIs and insights.

Finance Manager

Basingstoke | Full-Time | Part-Time will be considered for the right candidate

Are you a hands‑on Finance Manager who enjoys taking ownership and making a real impact? We’re looking for an experienced finance professional to lead the finance function within a successful and growing business based in Basingstoke.

This is a great role where you’ll have full responsibility for the day‑to‑day finance operations while acting as a trusted business partner to the leadership team. The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll be responsible for the complete finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and insightful commercial support.

• Producing monthly management accounts and board reports
• Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow
• Preparing statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors and accountants
• Overseeing payroll, VAT returns and tax compliance
• Managing sales and purchase ledgers where required
• Balance sheet reconciliations and month‑end closeDeveloping KPIs and providing commercial analysis to support business decisions
• Identifying and implementing process improvements and financial controls
• Supporting strategic planning and business growth initiatives

About You

You’ll be an experienced Finance Manager or Company Accountant who enjoys working independently and taking ownership of the finance function.

• Qualified or Part Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or be qualified by experience)
• Previous experience in a standalone or SME finance environment
• Good knowledge of accounting systems Xero, Sage is an advantage
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills
• Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders
• A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset
• Strong Excel and finance systems experience
