Job summary

Mc Allister A Vortex Company is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our Newry team. You will own the day-to-day finance function, drive liquidity, tax compliance (UK & ROI), and strategic analysis to support senior leadership.

Lead the finance team, manage month-end close, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and audit preparation. You’ll translate complex financial metrics such as WIP and contract profitability into actionable insights for decision makers.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with 3+ years post-qualification experience.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial modelling and data analysis.
• Experience with mid-tier ERP accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee finance team and core transactions (bank reconciliations, AR, credit control).
• Final authoriser for Accounts Payable and vendor payments; strengthen internal controls.
• Manage month-end close, journals, fixed asset registers and reconciliation processes.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team based in Newry.

The Finance Manager will take full operational ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function, driving financial health, statutory compliance, and commercial analysis. This role requires a hands‑on leader who can manage corporate liquidity, oversee multi‑jurisdictional tax compliance (UK & ROI), and translate complex financial metrics, such as WIP and project variances, into actionable business strategies for senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Financial Control

• Oversee and develop the finance team, ensuring the accurate performance of core transactions, including bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, and credit control.


• Establish robust internal controls; review and act as the final authoriser for all Accounts Payable and vendor payment runs.


• Oversee month‑end close processes, ensuring all journals, fixed asset registers, and control account reconciliations are executed flawlessly.

Treasury, Budgeting & Cash Flow

• Take ultimate ownership of liquidity, reviewing weekly cash flow forecasts to optimise working capital.


• Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate banking partners, managing financing facilities, loans, and covenant compliance.


• Lead the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of annual company budgets and rolling forecasts.

Strategic Project Analysis & Reporting

• Prepare and present comprehensive monthly management accounts, including executive summaries, variance analysis, and KPIs for the Board.


• Drive monthly project analysis, evaluating contract profitability, overseeing the valuation of monthly stock takes, and determining Work in Progress (WIP) values.


• Lead the preparation for the annual year‑end audit, acting as the primary liaison for external auditors to ensure compliance and timely completion.


• Taxation & Statutory Compliance (UK & ROI)


• Ensure total regulatory compliance across both the UK and Republic of Ireland, overseeing the accurate preparation and submission of VAT returns, Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) reports, and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) filings.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with 3+ years of post‑qualification experience.


• Minimum 1–2 years of experience managing or supervising a finance team.


• Exceptional knowledge of both UK and Irish tax regulations.


• Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling, macros, data analysis) and experience with mid‑tier ERP accounting software.
