Job description

Kenton Black Finance is currently partnered with a growing, fast-paced business operating nationally within a niche area of construction/engineering. The group head office is based in central Lancashire, and this business unit operates autonomously. A newly created position, this role will report directly to the CEO and lead all financial activities for the business. It is a standalone role suited to a technically strong Management Accountant who is keen to progress and develop further.

This is a remote role; however, you must be located in the North West as travel to the offices in Chorley is required occasionally.

This exciting and progressive opportunity requires knowledge and experience of CIS. The role is commercially focused, with progression opportunities. Both the group and this business unit are experiencing rapid growth. Known locally as an employer of choice, this is a unique opportunity.

Your new role as the Finance Manager / Management Accountant:

This role is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You will play an integral role in ensuring smooth financial operations, providing management with key insights, and supporting business decisions. Reporting directly to the CEO, the ideal candidate will have proficiency in accounting software, a strong understanding of CIS, month-end accounting, and ledger management.

Role Duties:
  1. Production of monthly Management Accounts, including all accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets registers.
  2. CIS management, including deductions, submissions, and verifications, including subcontractor pre-qualification checks.
  3. Budget management and monthly/quarterly forecasting.
  4. Monitor adherence to accounting standards and regulations, ensuring consistent financial reporting practices.
  5. Cashflow management.
  6. Process accounts payable and receivable.
  7. Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  8. Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and business growth.
  9. Support the Head of Finance with process improvements and system implementations.
  10. Assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements.
  11. Manage intercompany recharges and reconciliations.
Experience & Skills required:
  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant or similar role within finance or accounting.
  • Experience with CIS and a good understanding of accounting processes.
  • Strong knowledge of month-end processes and ledger management principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Xero is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with team members and stakeholders.
  • A relevant qualification in finance or accounting is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience with intercompany charges.
