Job description

Part-time | c.15 hours per week | Kidlington, Oxfordshire | Up to £50,000 FTE, pro rata, depending on experience

Are you an experienced finance professional seeking a flexible, influential part-time position within a purpose-led Oxfordshire organisation?

We are recruiting a Finance Manager for a well-established not-for-profit organisation that plays an important role in supporting and developing Oxfordshire’s visitor economy. Working across both a charitable entity and its trading company, this is an opportunity to take ownership of a broad finance remit while contributing to work with real regional impact.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Finance Manager will provide confident financial leadership, robust reporting and sound commercial insight across a varied organisation spanning marketing, events, visitor services, retail activity, travel services and consultancy.

This is a hands-on role with exposure at senior level. You will work closely with the Chief Executive, budget holders, external accountants and the Finance & Resources Committee, presenting financial information to trustees and Board Directors. You will also line-manage and support a Finance Executive.

The role offers flexibility, with 15 hours per week to be worked across two or three days.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day finance function across a charity and associated limited company.
  • Oversee the Xero accounting system, financial controls, reconciliations and banking processes.
  • Review monthly management accounts and produce clear financial reports, forecasts and KPI information for senior stakeholders.
  • Manage cash flow and provide timely, accurate financial insight to support decision-making.
  • Prepare and present papers for Finance & Resources Committee and Board meetings.
  • Work with external accountants on annual statutory accounts, tax, regulatory compliance and year-end requirements.
  • Ensure timely Companies House and Charity Commission filings.
  • Review payroll activity and liaise with external payroll providers as required.
  • Support credit control and maintain strong communication with internal teams.
  • Approve payments and ensure appropriate financial authorisation procedures are followed.
  • Act as the finance contact for relevant legal and intellectual-property administration.
  • Provide cover and support for the Finance Executive where needed.
About you

You will be a detail-focused and commercially aware finance professional who enjoys operating independently while building effective relationships across an organisation.

You will bring:

  • Significant practical accounting experience, including preparation and review of management accounts.
  • Experience using Xero or a comparable accounting system.
  • Strong cash-flow management, forecasting and financial-reporting capability.
  • Excellent attention to detail, IT skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders, boards, committees and external advisers.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to work across a varied finance remit.
  • Discretion, integrity and sound judgement when handling confidential information.
  • Previous people-management experience and knowledge of charity accounting or regulation would be advantageous.
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification is desirable, though relevant experience will be highly valued.
What’s on offer
  • A genuinely flexible, part-time senior finance role.
  • Salary of up to £50,000 FTE, pro rata, depending on experience.
  • The opportunity to shape finance operations and reporting within a respected, mission-led organisation.
  • A varied role with meaningful Board-level exposure and autonomy.
  • Based in Kidlington, Oxfordshire with free onsite parking.
