Elevation Recruitment Group is delighted to be working on an exclusive and retained basis with Northcoast Seafoods in Grimsby, as they look to appoint a new Management Accountant/Finance Manager to their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and growing FMCG business operating internationally.

About Northcoast Seafoods
Incorporated in September 2000, Northcoast Seafoods has grown to a turnover of circa £120 million and employs over 100 people. They specialize in sourcing high-quality prawns and whitefish products worldwide, distributing from their warehouse and production facility in Grimsby. Their manufacturing plant produces a range of bite-sized party foods and canapes supplied to retail customers. The company is a significant player in Europe in sales and marketing of shellfish from Asia, Iceland, Newfoundland, Canada, and other North Atlantic waters. Their product range includes shell-on prawns, cooked and peeled prawns, Atlantic cod, and Atlantic haddock. In 2022, Northcoast Seafoods was acquired by the Netherlands-based Seafood Connections Group, linking it to subsidiaries across Greenland, Denmark, Iceland, Germany, France, Canada, Russia, and the Far East. The global ultimate owner is a major player in the seafood industry that owns the Seafood Connection Group.

Role Overview

As Management Accountant/Finance Manager, you will lead a team of four, overseeing daily finance operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will partner with various business functions to manage costs and budgets, supporting strategic objectives. Key duties include:

  • Managing the finance team and overseeing financial transactions
  • Preparing Monthly Management Accounts
  • Maintaining Bill of Materials (BoM) setup and accuracy in Sage 200
  • Collaborating with procurement, production, and logistics to verify buying prices, labor standards, waste, and freight costs
  • Setting and checking standard costs for products
  • Working with sales to ensure accurate product costing for quotes and NPD launches
  • Investigating and reporting variances
  • Driving cost savings and profitability improvements
  • Participating in Sage 200 updates and new modules
  • Ensuring compliance with reporting requirements for regulators including HMRC
  • Engaging with auditors for year-end and bank audits
  • Developing the finance team
  • Performing other duties as required

Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience
  • Minimum 3 years in finance, preferably in food manufacturing
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Excel and systems knowledge, ideally Sage Line 200
  • Positive, motivated, and proactive attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills
  • Full driving license

Hours of work are from 9am to 5pm (35 hours per week), with flexibility available.
