Job description

The Finance Manager will oversee financial operations within the not-for-profit sector, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance. This role in Hammersmith is ideal for a professional looking to contribute their expertise in accounting and finance to a meaningful organisation.

Client Details

This is a respected not-for-profit organisation based in Hammersmith, known for its commitment to its mission and impactful work. It operates as a medium-sized entity, offering a stable and professional environment within the accounting and finance sector.

Description

Key duties for the role include the following:

*Day-to-day financial operations, including oversight of all purchase ledger activities, billing and monthly reconciliations.

*Prepare monthly and ad hoc cash flow forecasts, along with comprehensive capitalisation schedules and cash reports related to the building plan.

*Prepare and distribute detailed budget and expenditure reports to designated budget holders to support financial oversight and decision-making.

*Support school trips by assisting staff with trip budgeting and processing insurance claims.

*Support preparation of termly management accounts.

*Support preparation of P11Ds, PAYE settlement agreements and VAT returns (including capital goods scheme).

*Support smooth running of annual audit as key point of contact for auditors.

*Line manage and develop three finance team members.

*Undertake additional responsibilities consistent with the scope of the role, as reasonably required by the Bursar or the Head of Finance.

Profile

A successful Finance Manager should have:

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA preferred), or candidate with equivalent experience.
  • MUST have practise, education or charity experience!
  • Intermediate Excel skills and good knowledge of accounting packages. The school uses WCBS PASS accounting package.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently, with a highly proactive, flexible and positive approach to all duties and responsibilities.
  • Evidence of being a good team player, capable of working positively under pressure with a flexible outlook that supports the rest of the team.
  • A proven ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail to produce high quality work.
  • Display excellent inter-personal and communication skills to facilitate effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders, both verbal and written
