Job summary

Impact Investing Institute is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to own day-to-day finance in a small, ambitious not-for-profit environment. The role combines management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and project/grants finance in a hybrid London setting.

You will report to the Finance Director and ensure accurate, timely financial information while improving processes and controls across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Experience in management accounts and month-end processes.
• Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis proficiency.
• Experience with grants or externally funded projects; not-for-profit exposure.

• Manage grant and project finances, including budgets, monitoring and funder reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, expenses and reconciliations.
• Support year-end accounts, audit and VAT returns.
• Maintain accurate financial information in Xero.
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate finance processes and controls.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Finance Manager to take ownership of day-to-day finance within a small, ambitious purpose-led organisation.

Location:

Hybrid - London office and home working

Hours:

4 or 5 days per week

First-round interviews:

Week commencing 12 October 2026

Second-round interviews:

Week commencing 19 October 2026

About the role

The Impact Investing Institute is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to play a central role in the effective management of its finances.

Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a broad, hands-on position combining management accounting, financial operations, budgeting and forecasting, grants and project finance.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of the day-to-day finance function while providing clear, high-quality financial information to colleagues and budget holders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading monthly management accounts and month-end processes.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow forecasting and variance analysis.
• Working with budget holders and project leads to strengthen financial understanding.
• Managing grant and project finances, including budgets, monitoring and funder reporting.
• Overseeing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, expenses and reconciliations.
• Supporting year-end accounts, audit and VAT returns.
• Maintaining accurate financial information within Xero.
• Identifying opportunities to improve and automate finance processes and controls.

About you

You will be an experienced finance professional with strong management accounting skills and the confidence to take ownership of a varied finance remit.

You will ideally have experience across management accounts, month-end, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations and variance analysis, together with exposure to grants or externally funded projects.

You will have strong Excel skills and experience using Xero or a similar accounting system. A recognised ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification is preferred.

Collaborative, organised and proactive, you will be comfortable working independently and able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

Experience within a charity, not-for-profit, institute, research organisation or other purpose-led environment would be particularly welcome.
