Part-time Finance Manager

Gloucester with hybrid working

Full-time equivalent of £55,000

A part-time Finance Manager role in a service sector SME that has enjoyed excellent growth in recent years. With a culture built on learning and collaboration, their ambitions are to double in size within three years, and the appointment of a Finance Manager is testament to this ambition. This is probably a 20-25 hour a week role and offers good flexibility and work from home arrangements.

The role will focus on working closely with senior management to help them make the right decisions to steer strategy and aid financial growth. Responsibilities will include:

  1. Preparing monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
  2. Preparation of monthly board pack including variance analysis and narrative/commentary
  3. Responsible for monitoring of debt collection - regular meetings with team to ensure appropriate actions taken
  4. Management of team including development and progression
  5. Preparation of annual projections (P&L, balance sheet and cashflow)
  6. Quarterly updates to provide re-forecast for financial year
  7. Working with departmental managers to support their understanding of financial performance
  8. Monthly business partner meetings to review departmental accounts
  9. Highlighting risk areas and identifying opportunities for performance improvement
  10. Assessment of potential acquisition opportunities including drafting of business case and financial projections
  11. Working with external advisers on M&A and other growth opportunities
  12. Management/coordination of year end audit and reporting (working with external advisers)
  13. Preparation of quarterly VAT returns

In terms of qualification, we can consider qualified or qualified by experience candidates. Experience in most of the areas above is important and we would be looking for a good level of IT skills, in particular Excel.
