Job summary

Waracle is seeking a Finance Manager to join our world-class digital technology consultancy in the UK. This hybrid role, based in Glasgow or Edinburgh, involves leading financial operations, management reporting, and budgeting to drive growth and strategic decision-making.

You will mentor junior team members, partner with operations, safeguard data integrity, and champion modern automation while upholding high standards of ethics and compliance.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification and demonstrable experience in financial operations.
• Experience with month-end close, VAT, audits, and management reporting.
• Strong commercial mindset linking finance to business goals.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing Financial Operations & Compliance: manage AP/AR, cash forecasts, month-end close, VAT, deadlines, and audits.
• Management Reporting & Budgeting: prepare monthly accounts, monitor spend, and support variance analysis.
• Process Improvement & Modernisation: identify efficiencies and leverage automation to enhance finance workflows.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: translate data for non-finance managers and partner with operations.
• Mentorship & Team Growth: guide and upskill junior finance colleagues.
• Upholding Integrity & Ethics: ensure accuracy and confidentiality across practices.

Working as a trusted partner to operational teams, you will help elevate our finance function beyond traditional reporting into a strategic growth driver. Whether you are guiding daily accounting operations, supporting budgeting, or empowering team members through mentorship, your collaborative mindset and analytical insight will make a tangible impact across the business

Key aspects of the role include

• Overseeing Financial Operations & Compliance: Managing day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash forecasts, and month-end close processes while ensuring compliance with VAT returns, statutory deadlines, and audit requirements.

• Management Reporting & Budgeting: Preparing monthly management accounts, monitoring departmental spend, and sharing clear insights to support variance tracking and future budgeting.

• Process Improvement & Modernisation: Identifying operational efficiencies, safeguarding data integrity, and leveraging modern digital automation tools to elevate our software workflows.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Translating complex financial data into actionable insights for non-finance line managers and partnering closely with operations staff.

• Mentorship & Team Growth: Fostering a supportive culture of continuous learning by guiding, encouraging, and upskilling junior finance team members.

• Upholding Integrity & Ethics: Maintaining exceptional accuracy, confidentiality, and high professional standards across all financial practices.

What you'll bring:

• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAS) or equivalent, paired with demonstrative experience in financial operations and management accounting.

• A track record of overseeing daily finance workflows, maintaining VAT compliance, managing month-end close, and preparing for year-end audits.

• A strong commercial mindset with the ability to link financial performance to broader business goals.

• Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel & Google Sheets) and modern accounting software and automation tools.

• A collaborative, growth-oriented leadership style with a passion for supporting and guiding junior team members
