Job summary

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and present monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and KPI reporting.
• Consolidate financial information across the business for accurate reporting.
• Maintain and enhance financial models and reports using Excel.
• Analyse performance to identify trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Oversee accounting processes and robust financial controls.
• Monitor cash flow, assets and profitability reporting.
• Coordinate annual audits and budget preparations.
• Handle ad-hoc duties as required.

Finance Manager

Exeter, Devon (Office-Based)

£40,000 - £44,000 per annum

Our client, an established, family-run company based in Exeter, is currently seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the company. A key focus of the role will be the production of accurate and insightful monthly management accounts, alongside the consolidation of accounts across the business. You will use advanced Excel skills to analyse performance, strengthen reporting, and provide the financial insight needed to support decision-making, business growth, and profitability.

The responsibilities:

• Prepare, review and present monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and KPI reporting.
• Consolidate financial information and accounts from across the business, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely reporting.
• Use Excel to maintain and enhance financial models, reports, reconciliations and management information.
• Analyse financial performance, identifying trends, variances and opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
• Oversee accounting processes and maintain robust financial controls.
• Monitor cash flow, control assets, and conduct profitability reports and reviews.
• Handle manufacturer monthly composite reporting.
• Calculate, review and manage all payroll commissions and bonuses.
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
• Coordinate annual financial audits and budget preparations.
• Complete any ad-hoc duties as required.

The candidate:

• Proven experience within a similar finance role, with strong management accounts experience.
• Confident consolidating accounts and working with financial data from multiple sources.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• ACCA/ACA/CIMA/AAT qualified, or qualified by experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis and reporting.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
