About the Role

Our client, a long–established and growing company based in Erith, is seeking an Finance Manager to take full ownership of the finance function. This is a key leadership role, supporting the General Manager with strategic decision–making while overseeing all aspects of financial operations, reporting, compliance, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all financial activities including bookkeeping, reporting, and compliance.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and ad hoc reports.
• Payroll entry, VAT returns, and year–end audit preparation.
• Oversee AP/AR, purchasing, cash flow, and payment approvals.
• Work closely with senior management to support business planning and performance analysis.
• Drive improvements in ERP/finance systems and automate financial processes.
• Monitor credit risk, manage working capital, and support contract negotiations.

Requirements

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3+ in accounting or professional qualifications (AAT, ACCA, CIMA).
• Experience: Minimum 4 years in a similar finance role; experience in SMEs or manufacturing/engineering is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of UK tax and accounting standards, Sage 50, and ERP systems.
• Soft Skills: Proactive, detail–oriented and confident working both independently and as part of a team.
