Operations Manager and Financial Controller

Our client, who operates within the aerospace industry, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager and Financial Controller to lead its finance, HR, and administrative functions. This is a hands-on leadership role based in Derby, combining strategic oversight with day-to-day execution. The position is office-based with flexible working hours.



Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, leading budgeting and forecasting activities, and managing payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and bank transactions. They will oversee customer invoicing, reconcile project costs, and ensure full compliance with UK financial regulations and HMRC requirements. Acting as the UK point of contact for internal and external audits, they will also present financial reports and insights to senior leadership.

In addition to financial duties, the role includes managing recruitment, onboarding and offboarding processes, supporting employee relations and performance reviews, and maintaining accurate HR documentation. The Office Operations Manager will also handle office procurement, insurance, travel expenses, and general administrative tasks.

This role requires close collaboration with both UK and US-based leadership teams to ensure smooth operational workflows across all support functions.



Qualifications

Candidates should hold a degree in Business Administration or a related field, with a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA. A minimum of ten years' experience in accounting, including at least five years in a leadership role, is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong financial acumen, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems is essential.
