Job description

Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be working alongside a prestigious well-known charity in Dundee to appoint a Finance Manager at a exciting and pivotal moment in their history. This appointment is for an 18-month fixed term contract, with the potential to extend, working on a 0.8 FTE ratio including occasional evenings and weekends as appointed Duty Manager with possibility to increase hours. You will join an organisation with a strong history in Dundee, a fantastic opportunity for an individual with solid financial management background ready to take on a varied and interesting role.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, as the Finance Manager your role will involve:

  • Responsible for he day-to-day control of the charity's finances and cashflow management
  • Maintain the nominal ledger, purchase ledger and sales ledger
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts and monitoring cashflow
  • Manage monthly payroll working alongside external party
  • Support fundraising team through production of financial reports when required
  • Support projects in budgeting and financial reporting
  • Line manage the Finance & Administration team
  • Oversight of procurement processes, tenders and contract whilst evaluating value for money
  • Duty Manager responsibilities: one in every five weekends on rota you will participate in the role of Duty Manager. Acting as a point of contact for operational oversight, H&S and visitor management whilst acting as key-holder.

The Candidate

  • You will ideally have proven experience of working within a charity organisation as part of thefinance team.
  • You will ideally have a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACMA, CIPFA or equivalent) OR qualified by experience.
  • Experience in bookkeeping including ledgers, account reconciliation and cash flow monitoring
  • Experience in cash flow management and forecasting
  • Ability to prepare statutory and management accounts (ideally using Xero software)
  • Understanding of funding environments is desirable

Terms and Benefits

  • Salary on offer - £43,000 per annum pro-rata PLUS £1,500 duty manager allowance
  • 18 months fixed term contract, with possibility to extend subject to funding
  • 34 days holiday including public holidays (pro rata for this role depending on hours)
  • NEST Pension, 3% employer contribution and 5% employee contribution
  • 0.8 FTE (around 30 hours per week however flexible for right candidate), including occasional evening/weekend working as Duty Manager on rotation to increase hours
