Role Description
An exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and talented Finance Manager in Chepstow. The Finance Manager will take full day-to-day responsibility for the accurate and timely production of management accounts and financial reporting to the operating business, ensuring high-quality financial data is available to support decision making at Board and operational levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Management Accounting
Full ownership of monthly management accounts production → accuracy, completeness, timelines
Variance analysis vs budget and prior year
Preparation of board pack inputs (with GroupFD)
Oversight of weekly and monthly KPI reporting — aligned to operational needs (fleet utilisation, profitability, cash conversion)
Cash flow reporting and forecasting — working with the Group FD
Financial Operations
Management of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes → ensuring efficiency and control
Supervision of bank reconciliations
Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed monthly and fully understood
Manage VAT returns and compliance in conjunction with external advisor if needed
Liaise with auditors → support audit process, prepare schedules, resolve queries
Support continuous improvement of financial processes, controls and reporting systems
Drive automation where possible — e.g. better integration of workshop systems and financewhere relevant
Maintain strong internal controls — including revenue recognition, cost allocation, stock management
(if applicable)
Team Management
Lead and develop the existing finance team (AP, AR, assistants etc) → ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities, encourage development
Be a visible and supportive leader → hands-on, approachable, proactive
Qualifications:
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience with strong track record
Proven experience in a hands-on Finance Manager / Financial Controller role
Demonstrable experience of owning and delivering management accounts in a fast-moving business
Experience in leading small teams
Strong systems skills → Excel, accounting software, reporting tools
Attention to detail, highly organised, ability to work to deadlines
Experience in leasing, workshop or fleet-based businesses advantageous
