Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking a Finance Manager near Cambridge to support the CFO in scaling operations and financial control. The role focuses on strategy execution, forecasting, budgets, and compliance with tax and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support CFO in executing financial strategy and controls.

• Ensure tax compliance, VAT, R&D credits and payroll obligations.
• Oversee transactional finance with external accountants and resolve queries.
• Contribute to ad hoc reports for investors and governance committees.
• Identify improvements to financial processes and treasury outputs.

Job description

Hays are partnered exclusively with an established biotech business on the outskirts of Cambridge and looking to recruit a Finance Manager to a newly created role within the business. This company has developed their offering significantly in recent years and, as such, is looking to expand their finance team.

Your new role

This role will support the CFO in supporting the financial management of the business through the next stage in their growth and to scale their operations. Specifically, your responsibilities will be to:

• Work closely with the CFO to execute the financial strategy of the business.
• Prepare and deliver management and statutory accounting information, working alongside external accountants
• Produce rolling forecasts for leadership
• Produce budgets for various divisions and projects
• Business partner with Project Management and R&D Team to ensure financial plans accurately reflect the budgets
• Work in tandem with the external Accounting team to ensure compliance with tax regulations, including timely reclaiming of R&D tax credits and fulfilment of VAT and PAYE / NI obligations.
• Oversee the transactional finance function currently undertaken by the external accountants and troubleshoot any queries
• Assist in the compilation of ad hoc reports to be provided to investors
• Identify, develop and deliver continuous improvements to financial processes, improving the accuracy and efficiency of those processes.
• Support other business activities including banking & treasury, including optimising interest and cash management
• Support with outputs that are required for the Treasury Committee and Risk and Audit Committee.

This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week between Monday and Friday. This role will be classed as 'home-based' but travel to the office near Cambridge will be required where necessary.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be:

• Fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience and technical knowledge.
• Excellent communicator and ability to develop good working relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
• Skilled and strong in using Excel spreadsheets, and ability to build and maintain models.
• Preference will be given to those with experience/exposure to working in a biotech with a hands-on self-starter approach
• Good IT knowledge, ideally with knowledge of Xero, SmartSheets and MS Excel.
• A working knowledge of AI tools would be advantageous.
