Job Description Summary

You'll join us in Group Finance Support (GFS), a team of c350 colleagues within the Finance Division, providing centralised support and expertise to the rest of Finance and the Business.

This role sits within the Insurance Financial Control team in Group Finance Support, who are responsible for the financial control activity, primarily reconciliation, controls and attestation of both internal and external Finance data, within Lloyds Banking Group. Our key collaborators are Insurance, Pensions and Investment (IP&I) Division supporting reporting across Insurance Life and Non-Life Entities.

We’re looking for an engaged, enthusiastic and hardworking candidate to manage the team, positively challenging current processes and encouraging a growth mindset across the team.

Day to day responsibilities

Your role will be varied, and no two days will look quite the same; some of your key priorities in this role include:

  • Lead Financial Control:Manage team to deliver timely, well-controlled month-end close. Oversee finance controls, settlements, and processes aligned with Group strategy, ensuring value for users and customers. Review outputs critically and challenge assumptions where needed.

  • Drive Delivery at Pace:Implement processes that break down work for faster, incremental value delivery. Apply a problem-solving mindset and challenge existing practices.

  • Manage Performance:Conduct regular check-ins, update objectives, set development goals and 90-day plans. Provide coaching and support to enhance team performance.

  • Foster Innovation:Promote use of technology and innovation to streamline processes. Identify opportunities to reinvest time for greater impact and support change adoption.

  • Ensure Governance & Risk Management:Adhere to the Financial Control Framework. Proactively raise and resolve risks and issues, taking ownership to mitigate impacts.

  • Collaborate & Communicate: Work closely with Insurance, Pensions & Investment Finance (IP&IF) and other teams to integrate financial processes with broader change initiatives.

What you’ll need

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Finance or Accounting) or a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA).

Technical skills & experience:

  • Finance experience:Established, hands-on, commercial experience in a related finance role, preferably within the insurance finance sector.

  • Strong technical proficiency: Technical skills in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Oracle.

Behavioural skills:

  • Analytical Thinking:Strong ability to interpret complex financial data and solve problems.

  • Communication:Excellent interpersonal skills; effective at building relationships across all levels.

  • Attention to Detail:Committed to accuracy and thoroughness in financial reporting.

  • Proactivity & Growth:Self-motivated, organised, and eager to drive improvement and learn new skills.

  • Integrity:Upholds high ethical standards, confidentiality, and integrity in all financial matters.
