Job summary

Butler Rose is recruiting a Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function within a growing SME. You will lead the preparation of management accounts, cash forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting to support strategic decisions.

Reporting to the MD, you will strengthen controls, manage VAT/compliance, and drive improvements across processes while collaborating with senior leadership to influence business performance.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Part-qualified candidates are welcome.
• Qualified by experience (QBE) also considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day finance function and reporting.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and analysis.
• Forecast cash flow and manage treasury.
• Budgeting and financial planning.
• Produce VAT returns and ensure compliance.
• Oversee credit control and debtor management.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end activities.
• Provide strategic financial insight to MD & senior team.
• Drive continuous improvement of controls and processes.

Finance Manager

Bridgwater | £55,000 - £65,000 DOE | Full Time | Permanent

Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a long-established and growing business seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function and support the next stage of the company's growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working within an SME environment and wants to play a key role in supporting business performance and decision-making.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and providing valuable insight to support strategic business decisions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts
• Cash flow forecasting and treasury management
• Budgeting and financial planning
• Production of monthly financial reports and analysis
• VAT returns and statutory compliance
• Credit control oversight and debtor management
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting month-end and year-end processes
• Providing financial insight and recommendations to senior management
• Continuous improvement of financial controls and processes

About You

We're interested in speaking with candidates who possess:

• Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Company Accountant or similar
• Strong management accounting skills
• Experience within an SME environment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• A proactive and hands-on approach
• Strong Excel and financial systems experience
