A multi-site business in Blackburn seeks an experienced Finance Manager to oversee finance operations and lead a team of 10. You will be responsible for management accounts, financial performance analysis, and strategic decision support. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic group operating across retail (100+ branches), manufacturing (5 sites), e-commerce (3 websites), and logistics (2 hubs). Our client is offering the successful candidate a clear pathway to become Financial Controller within two years.
As Finance Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day finance operations and play a key role in driving financial performance and process improvement across the group. You’ll manage a finance team of 10 (including 7 in Purchase Ledger) and ensure timely and accurate reporting of management accounts for multiple business units.
You will also partner closely with department heads to explain financial results, identify opportunities for improvement, and support key strategic decisions.
Lead and develop the finance and purchase ledger teams.
Review and analyse monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
Provide insightful analysis on sales, cost of sales, margins, stock, debtors, and creditors.
Drive process and systems improvement in collaboration with IT, including ERP implementation projects.
Manage and reconcile high transaction volumes across multiple entities and departments.
Partner with operational leaders to drive efficiencies, control costs, and improve profitability.
Support the Financial Controller and prepare for external audits.
Oversee CID facility management, reconciliations, and audits.
We’re looking for a confident and proactive Finance Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will bring a combination of technical expertise, commercial insight, and strong leadership.
Essential Requirements:
CIMA / ACCA Qualified or QBE with proven experience in a Finance Manager role.
Background in retail, manufacturing, or multi-site operations.
Experience managing finance teams within a £75m+ turnover business.
Strong knowledge of management accounts, reconciliations, and financial controls.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas).
Excellent communication and business partnering skills.
A hands-on leader with a “can-do” attitude and the drive to progress to Financial Controller.
