Job description

I'm working with a well-established, privately owned hospitality business to recruit a 1st time mover for this newly created Finance Manager position.

Whilst the main focus of the role is improving deliver of the audit, this role offers exposure to all things commercial both from a finance perspective and just more generally around the running of a business.

My client are a well established, privately owned hospitality business turning over circa £300 million as a group. With an extremely experienced finance team around you, this opportunity is brilliant for someone making that first step in to industry who wants to gain a skill set in a variety of different areas including the more commercial side of finance.

Description

Given your technical skillset and experience, your main responsibility will be the improvement of the audit process internally, ideally reducing the time it takes to complete;

  • Liaise with the external auditors to understand audit deliverables including, P&L, balance sheet and tax analysis and sample testing data to the agreed timetable
  • Liaise with the Group Financial Controller and Management Accountants to ensure audit deliverables are produced in the format required. Provide ad hoc analysis for reporting requirements in the statutory accounts that are not part of the monthly management accounts process.
  • Keep up to date with upcoming technical requirements and ensure that these are briefed out to the business and considered in advance of implementation
  • Review and approve Balance Sheet reconciliations prepared by the divisional and central accounting teams

Profile

  • Newly qualified ACA/ACCA Accountant from Practice or industry qualified accountant with experience of stat accounts prep/ audit in a multi-entity environment
  • Experience of UK GAAP
  • Proven ability to understand balance sheet structures and present appropriately
  • Experience of managing and delivering a clean audit to budget and timetable
  • Good communicator and influencing skills
  • Ideally, experience preparing group consolidated accounts including foreign subsidiaries
  • Quick learner, able to hit the ground running
  • Advanced Excel skills
