Looking to kickstart your Legal career?
Our Costs Team at Keoghs is hosting a recruitment morning on the 18th of July via Microsoft Teams.
This entry-level role involves assessing and settling costs claims in Clinical Negligence cases and managing procedural aspects up to agreement or assessment, including file handling.
You will manage your own caseload of end-of-life payables.
Key Accountabilities
Drafting documents such as:
• Chronology
• Costs Strategy Document
• Points of Dispute
• Basic Interlocutory applications
• Part 18 requests
• Consent orders
Evidential Reviews and Assessments:
• Review files and prepare chronologies
• Assess costs claims and set strategies/reserves
• Review replies and incoming evidence
• Refer cases for supervision
• Assess outcomes of PA
Reporting:
• Draft advice on NDA files
• Prepare outcome reports post-case
• Provide non-strategic updates to clients
Settlement Negotiations:
• Assess Part 36 offers and settlement proposals
• Negotiate with third parties
• Complete MI, payment requests, and outcome reports
Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.
Working Hours
35 hours/week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.
Primary location: Parklands, Bolton.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills and Attributes:
• GCSEs in English & Maths (grades A-C or Level 5 or equivalent)
• IT literacy (Microsoft Office)
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills
• Interpersonal and communication skills
• Customer service experience
• Teamwork and independence
• Initiative and attention to detail
• Drafting legal costs documents
• Understanding client needs and litigation processes
• Proficient with case management systems
Desirable:
• Legal office experience
• Degree or equivalent
