Job description

Forget the stereotype - finance at NFU Mutual is far more than just number crunching! Our Finance Graduate Scheme is all about shaping future Finance Leaders who can make a real impact. With a track record of keeping our financial strength rock-solid while helping customers reach their savings and investment goals, we're looking for ambitious graduates who are ready to dive in.

Over three years, you'll gain hands-on experience through two 18-month placements in vital areas such as:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) - this team plays a key role in partnering with the business to drive financial performance and decision-making. You'll gain experience across areas such as sales and claims performance, strategic planning, and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Financial Reporting & Controls (FRC) - this team oversees financial and regulatory reporting, ensuring strong financial controls and best practices across the Group. You'll develop technical expertise in statutory and regulatory reporting while also building relationships with stakeholders across the business as well as external auditors.
  • Properties Finance - this team manages transactions, budgeting, and financial reporting for all NFU Mutual properties. You'll gain experience in areas like statutory reporting and budgeting, working closely with the wider Properties Team.

To join our Finance Graduate Scheme, you'll need to have achieved, or be on track for, at least a 2:1 degree. While your degree doesn't need to be in a specific subject, we do prefer candidates with a strong numerical or analytical focus in their studies. More importantly, we're looking for individuals with a passion for learning, curiosity, and the potential to grow.

For our Finance scheme, we'll also be looking out for:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Good communication and relationship building skills
  • Digital literacy - particularly with using Excel
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • Initiative and self-management skills
  • Problem-solving skills

If you're able to bring these, we can teach you the rest. If you've gained industry experience or completed a placement year-especially in Financial Services or accountancy-that's a big plus!

NFU Mutual is a leading provider of General Insurance and Financial Services. From our strong farming roots we've grown to become a UK-wide organisation, turning over £1billion annually. Yet success hasn't gone to our heads. We're proud to remain completely customer focused, down-to-earth and committed to the rural communities we've grown from.

What you can expect: From day one, you'll be welcomed into a supportive, dynamic team where your ideas matter, and collaboration fuels success. You'll rotate across teams, gaining a behind-the-scenes understanding of how finance drives the business-whether it's managing risk, crunching the numbers, or influencing strategy.

We support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.

When you join our team, you can expect a supportive culture and an attractive range of rewards and benefits including:

  • Salary £30,987
  • Annual bonus (up to 10% of salary)
  • Contributory pension scheme, up to 20%, including your 8% contribution
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + buy/sell/save holiday trading scheme
  • A Family Friendly policy that helps you balance your work and family responsibilities
  • Access to savings at High Street brands, travel and supermarkets
  • £20 contribution to a monthly gym membership - subject to T&Cs
  • Health and wellbeing plan - cashback for dentist, opticians, physio and more
  • Access to voluntary benefits, including health assessments, private medical insurance and dental insurance
  • Employee Volunteering - volunteer in the community for one day each year
  • Unlimited access to Refer a Friend £500 bonus scheme
  • Life Assurance cover of 4 x salary
  • Employee discounts of 15% on a range of NFU Mutual insurance policies
