Description: Finance Director for an established manufacturing company in North Wales paying £100K+

South Caernarfon Creameries - Finance Director

£100-£110K + car + package

Location: North Wales, Pwllheli, LL53 6SB

Ever fancied working in picturesque North Wales, close to the coast and Snowdonia?

Hays Senior Finance is delighted to be working with South Caernarfon Creameries to recruit a Finance Director. SCC is a farmer-owned co-operative established in 1938. They have grown and innovated continuously, processing circa 200m litres of Welsh milk per annum into high-quality cheese and dairy products supplied to leading retailers, wholesalers, and export markets. Turnover has increased from £30m to a forecasted £120m in the coming year, supported by over £35m of investment in facilities.

Due to an impending retirement, SCC seeks to appoint a qualified Finance Director with extensive manufacturing experience to lead the finance team and join the Board of Directors. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will contribute to achieving the company's business objectives by:

  1. Providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure the company's financial commitments are met.
  2. Developing policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and control.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Direct and control a small, stable finance/IT team, motivating and developing them to meet responsibilities to the required standard.
  2. Contribute to the achievement of business objectives through financial strategy advice.
  3. Develop and oversee the company's annual operating budget, ensuring financial targets and regulatory compliance.
  4. Provide financial advice to managers and staff to support their objectives.
  5. Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial accounts.
  6. Maintain controls, systems, policies, and procedures for effective financial management.
  7. Ensure the company meets its financial and legal obligations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Extensive senior-level accountancy experience.
  • Significant managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of the process/manufacturing industry.
  • Strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
