Who is the business? Zanda is supporting an ethical e-commerce scaleup based in the North West that's recently taken on investment to expand operations, increase brand awareness, and improve the operating platform. Currently, the business continues to build its customer base ahead of the next phase of growth.

This cross-functional team now seeks their first full-time finance hire: a commercially aware Head of Finance or Finance Director to join the business. Building an insightful and scalable finance function is a priority, and this role will be crucial in providing the CEO and leadership team with information to guide key decisions. Given the high transaction volume, producing metrics to identify profitable product lines, pricing, and wider financial planning and analysis are key components of this role.

The ideal candidate will enjoy a broad, hands-on role and the variety of working in a startup or scaleup environment to develop the best commercial product offering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the CEO and executive team to shape the financial strategy.
• Establish effective processes and controls across all financial operations.
• Develop financial models to provide insights into product profitability for decision-making.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting to support short, medium, and long-term financial and cash flow planning.
• Partner with functions including marketing and procurement.
• Enhance month-end reporting, manage cash flow, and optimize working capital.

What background should you have?

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, or ACCA).
• Experience in a dynamic startup, scaleup, or high-growth SME.
• Previous experience as a Finance Director or Head of Finance, establishing finance functions and driving commercial decisions.
• Practical understanding of management accounting principles.
• Solid knowledge of accounting and finance best practices.
• Extensive experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and FP&A.
• Experience in e-commerce or retail sectors is a bonus.
