Job summary

Athene is seeking a Director of Finance in Bermuda to oversee the day-to-day Bermuda Statutory Close (BSTAT) process and lead a team of accountants. You will supervise monthly and quarterly close activities, ensure accurate BSTAT reporting, and coordinate with Actuarial, FP&A, Reinsurance Accounting, Tax, and external auditors.

The role requires a CPA/ACCA, 7+ years of experience including life and annuity insurance, and a strong controls/SOX background.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and recognized accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA).
• Strong controls background and experience with SOX.
• Experience with US GAAP and Bermuda regulatory reporting for reinsurance/insurance.
• Ability to manage a team and prioritize multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Bermuda Statutory Close (BSTAT) process and team.
• Lead monthly/quarterly financial reporting journal entries and controls for reinsurance.
• Coordinate cross-department close activities (Actuarial, FP&A, Reinsurance Accounting, Tax).
• Serve as point of contact for external Bermuda Monetary Authority filings and audit.
• Mentor and manage accounting staff and ensure accurate financial analytics and statements.
