Job summary

Persimmon Homes is inviting applications for a Finance Director to join the Finance Team and report to the Regional Finance Director. You will be responsible for the Finance function of the South Midlands division, supporting senior management and ensuring timely Group reporting.

The role focuses on strategic planning, risk management, and building a high-performing finance team, with accountability for forecasts, management accounts, and financial controls across the division.

• Experience preferred within housing or equivalent sector.

Responsibilities

• Partner the senior leadership team for strategic planning and decision making.
• Identify risks and opportunities for the division and communicate them to the leadership team.
• Challenge key assumptions with land, sales, build and commercial teams to ensure robust, viable targets.
• Monitor site profitability, costs and margins.
• Oversee monthly forecasts and explain drivers of changes.
• Oversee bi-monthly management accounts with variance analysis against prior year and budgets.
• Maintain strong financial controls within the division and ensure timely Group reporting.
• Lead and develop the Finance team to uphold high standards and competitive edge.

What is the role?

This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Director to join the Finance Team. This role reports to the Regional Finance Director.

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the Finance function of the South Midlands division, providing support to the senior management team and actively participating in the decision making and evaluation processes, whilst ensuring all Group reporting requirements are achieved.

What you'll do as a Finance Director

• Partnering the senior leadership team for the division with strategic planning and decision making
• Identifying risks and opportunities for the division and communicating these clearly to the senior leadership team
• Attending regular internal management and valuation meetings and where necessary challenging the land, sales, build and commercial teams on key assumptions to ensure a robust process and commercially viable targeted results
• Monitoring site profitability, costs and margins
• Overseeing the preparation and quality assurance of monthly operating forecasts explaining clearly the drivers causing anticipated changes to results
• Overseeing the preparation and quality assurance of bi-monthly management accounts including a detailed variance analysis against prior year and budget comparatives
• Ensuring that Group reporting is accurate and meets deadlines so the wider business can identify good working practice, carry out sufficient forecasting and identify any potential areas for concern
• Maintain strong financial controls within the division
• Leading and developing the Finance team, ensuring that they are sufficiently trained so to maintain the highest standards of success and a competitive edge for the business.

What experience do I need?

• Ability to communicate at all levels in a courteous and professional manner
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified
• Previous experience of working within the housing sector or similar would be highly advantageous
