We have a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded Finance Director to join our Executive Team, where you will have significant impact on the financial direction and strategic growth of Newport Live.

Hours, Pay and Benefits

  • Full time, working 37 hours per week
  • Predominantly working Monday-Friday with a need to be flexible in line with needs of the business
  • Salary £70,000-£80,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Annual leave 33 days per year (including bank holiday entitlement)
  • Annual leave increase at 5 years (37 days) and 10 years (40 days) length of service

  • Fully qualified Accountant (CIMA / CIPFA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent)
  • Experience of providing strategic financial leadership and delivering results
  • Ability to advise Trustees and senior leaders on financial strategies
  • Skilled at developing and managing key performance indicators
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Highly motivated and results-driven

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially minded Finance Director to join our Executive Team, led by our Chief Executive. This is an exciting time to join us with:

  • A new £28m+ leisure facility currently under construction
  • New business plans and investments of £2m+ into sports, leisure and arts
  • A new five-year strategy shaping the future of the Trust

This is a senior leadership role where you will have significant impact on the financial direction and strategic growth of the Trust.

About the Role

As Finance Director, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Finance Manager, who leads a small finance team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial management and support across the Trust
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, business planning, investment and risk management
  • Provide strategic oversight to support growth, development, and long-term sustainability
  • Act as Company Secretary to the Board of Trustees, and be the lead contact with external auditors
  • Play a pivotal role in delivering operation effectiveness and profitability whilst maintaining the charitable ethos

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a fully qualified accountant with senior business or Board-level experience
  • Is commercially astute, with a proven track record of delivering strong financial leadership in a complex and diverse environment
