Role

We are seeking a commercially minded, hands‑on finance leader who can combine operational excellence with strategic impact. This person will strengthen financial control, safeguarding processes, reporting and performance analysis, whilst supporting long‑term growth of the business. The role will suit someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves to stream‑line processes, whilst also having the ambition to grow the business. A strong track record of team development would be a real asset.

Key Accountabilities
  • To manage and provide leadership to the DCUK and Optima finance teams (c10 in total), ensuring daily operations run smoothly whilst driving continuous improvement.
  • To manage the financial systems, policies, procedures, risks and control environment to ensure adherence to reporting & project deadlines and statutory requirements.
  • To oversee the DCUK Safeguarding and Client Accounting environment.
  • To ensure regulatory compliance with FCA.
  • To manage and build strong, productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Accountant with 10+ years industry experience as a Finance Director.
  • Demonstrable experience with regulated environments (FCA & SRA a definite advantage) and related policies, processes and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Communicative, confident & constructive approach.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Resilience & solutions‑focused, always seeking practical ways to make an impact.
  • Prior experience in leading & building high‑performing finance teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing new systems, processes and procedures whilst managing change for all affected stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to take a practical approach and undertake work at an operational level.
  • Proven ability to maintain a low‑risk, compliant, “no surprises” Finance function with straightforward policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to understand key financial and business variables in a complex and changing commercial environment.
  • Ability to accurately anticipate emerging and current stakeholder needs and establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
