Job summary

Sowena Group in the Peak District is seeking a Finance Director to lead the day-to-day finance function across multiple sites, reporting to the CFO and guiding a 10+ team. You’ll own group reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and drive financial discipline.

This role demands a hands-on leader with ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications, strong commercial instinct, and proven ability to partner with senior directors to support strategic growth, efficiency, and investor reporting.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA credentials.
• Experience as Head of Finance/Financial Controller or Finance Director.
• Strong commercial instincts and business partnering mindset.
• Experience in a multi-site, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead group reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash management for the multi-site group.
• Oversee audit, tax, statutory accounts and consolidation processes.
• Drive procurement, supplier negotiations and group-wide cost efficiency initiatives.
• Oversee payroll for 850+ employees.
• Lead commercial analysis, pricing and business partnering activities.
• Drive finance transformation, automation and digitalisation projects.
• Support refinancing activities and investor reporting.

Job description

A Finance Director role where the numbers genuinely matter.

Sowena Group has been retained by an investor backed high-growth, multi-site organisation with a strong social purpose, ambitious growth plans and a proven track record of double-digit growth over recent years.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll lead the day-to-day finance function and a team of 10+ with 3 direct reports, taking ownership of:

• Group reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash management
• Audit, tax, statutory accounts and consolidation
• Procurement, supplier negotiation and group-wide cost efficiency
• Payroll for 850+ employees
• Commercial analysis, pricing and business partnering
• Finance transformation, automation and digitalisation
• Supporting refinancing and investor reporting

This is not finance from the sidelines. You’ll work closely with directors, operational leaders and site managers, turning financial insight into better decisions while ensuring quality of services remain at the heart of every commercial decision.

We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with proven Head of Finance/Financial Controller or Finance Director-level experience, strong commercial instincts and the confidence to operate as a trusted partner to the CFO and wider leadership team.
