Job description

Our client is a capital-intensive energy infrastructure business operating grid-scale assets across the UK and Europe. They're backed by institutional investors and executing a significant expansion programme. The Finance Director role exists because the business is scaling rapidly and becoming more complex. They need stronger financial planning capability, deeper management depth, and a foundation for long-term leadership development within the finance function.

The Company

Our client operates at the centre of Europe's energy transition, managing grid-critical infrastructure backed by institutional investors and growing substantially. The business is becoming more complex as they expand across multiple countries, manage different funding structures, and build new operational capabilities. This requires financial leadership that can navigate complexity without losing clarity. The team values analytical rigour, decisive thinking, and the ability to communicate financial strategy clearly across boards and investor audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead financial planning and analysis for the group, setting budgets, forecasts, and management reporting to senior leadership, the board and minority investors.

  • Oversee the group's financial controller team (nine people, plus roles to be recruited), ensuring robust accounting, financial controls and compliance as the company scales rapidly.

  • Manage cash flow and debt facility compliance. Support debt and equity fundraising to fuel growth.

  • Hold the business accountable to financial targets and provide insight into performance and risk across operations, development, and corporate functions.

Experience & Qualifications
  • 8+ years in financial leadership roles, ideally in capital-intensive industries (energy, infrastructure, utilities or similar).

  • A track record of financial planning, management reporting and budget ownership in complex, fast-growing organisations.

  • Strong spreadsheet and financial modelling skills. Comfort with financial systems and reporting tools.

  • Ability to communicate financial strategy clearly to boards, investors and operational teams. No jargon unless it earns its place.

  • ACCA, ACA or equivalent qualification preferred. Strong knowledge of UK and European financial reporting.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and bonus structure.

  • Pension scheme and generous holiday allowance.

  • Flexible working and hybrid arrangements.

  • Learning and professional development budget.

  • Exposure to a genuinely complex, high-growth business with institutional backing.

Mint Selection is committed to inclusive hiring and equal opportunities. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are focused on building diverse teams that reflect the global energy transition.
