Finance Director
Bristol
GBP80,000 – GBP90,000 annual bonus (cGBP30,000)

Do you have the ambition to progress to CFO within 18 to 24 months? Employal is partnering with a high–growth, tech–enabled logistics platform to hire a Finance Director with a clear route to CFO. If you are a commercially minded finance leader who wants a seat at the top table and the mandate to challenge the status quo, this will suit you.

The client: As they approach their first decade in business, our client has grown to GBP6.2m turnover by combining proprietary software with a national and European supplier network. With an experienced board and a target of GBP15m within three years, they are preparing for institutional investment and strengthening the leadership team.

The role: You will build and lead a modern finance function, partner the CEO and board on strategy, and stay close to the numbers. This is ideal for a Finance Director ready to step into a CFO role who enjoys shaping strategy, improving performance and asking the difficult questions.

• Own budgets, rolling forecasts and monthly reporting
• Build investor ready financial models and board packs that link operational drivers to revenue, margin and cash
• Lead FP&A as a strategic engine: pricing analysis, unit economics, cohort and retention analysis, sales funnel and conversion insight, customer and product profitability, ROI on projects and hires
• Challenge assumptions across the plan and hold teams to account on targets, cost discipline and capital allocation
• Strengthen controls, processes and automation across finance systems to support scale
• Develop and mentor a capable team that can grow with the business
• Manage auditors, banks and prospective investors

The candidate:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified. Big 4 training is advantageous
• Deep FP&A and commercial finance experience, comfortable translating data into clear choices and trade–offs is essential
• A record of challenging legacy processes, resetting KPIs and improving forecasting accuracy and cash performance
• Experience in high growth settings. Logistics or SaaS exposure is a strong plus
• Credibility with CEOs and boards, confident communicator who can influence and constructively challenge
• Ambition to progress to CFO within 18 to 24 months

• GBP80,000 to GBP90,000 base salary plus performance bonus
