Job summary

Edinburgh City Football Club Limited, East Kilbride, is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead the financial function for a growing SME manufacturing business operating across the UK and international markets.

You will report to the Board, manage a small finance team, drive robust controls, deliver timely reporting, support strategy, and balance hands-on finance leadership with strategic oversight. Salary up to £85,000 plus benefits; office-based five days.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
• Proven senior finance leadership experience in an SME environment.
• Strong IFRS/statutory reporting and budgeting knowledge.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and Board reporting packs.
• Lead the annual statutory accounts process and liaise with external auditors.
• Oversee VAT returns, corporation tax and wider tax compliance.
• Maintain robust financial controls, governance and reporting procedures.
• Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts and treasury activities.
• Approve company payments including international transactions.
• Review pricing and profitability for new opportunities and growth initiatives.
• Oversee payroll processes and remuneration budgeting.
• Support R&D tax credit submissions and regulatory reporting.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Director to join a successful and growing manufacturing business based in East Kilbride. Operating across the UK and international markets, the company has built a strong reputation within its sector and is entering an important phase of continued growth and development.This is a pivotal leadership role, offering direct Board exposure and the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making while maintaining hands-on involvement across the finance function.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board, you will take full responsibility for the financial management of the business. Leading a finance team of four, you will provide commercial insight, ensure robust financial controls, oversee compliance and reporting requirements, and support the wider leadership team in delivering sustainable growth.This role will suit a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys working within an SME environment and is comfortable balancing strategic responsibilities with operational involvement.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Control

• Produce monthly management accounts and Board reporting packs.
• Lead the annual statutory accounts process and manage relationships with external auditors.
• Oversee VAT returns, corporation tax requirements, and wider tax compliance.
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls, governance, and reporting procedures

Cashflow & Treasury Management

• Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts and financial projections.
• Manage banking relationships and treasury activities.
• Authorise company payments, including domestic and international transactions.
• Ensure effective working capital management and cash optimisation.

Commercial & Operational Finance

• Review and approve pricing proposals for new business opportunities.
• Support the sales function through commercial analysis and profitability reporting.
• Review expenditure and supplier costs to drive value and efficiency.
• Provide strategic financial insight to support business growth initiatives.

Compliance & Corporate Governance

• Support R&D tax credit submissions and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Oversee statutory filings, confirmation statements, and ONS reporting.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, corporate, and regulatory obligations.
• Manage business insurance renewals and commercial contract reviews.

Payroll & Benefits

• Oversee payroll processes and associated controls.
• Support salary review budgeting and remuneration planning.
• Manage P11D submissions and employee benefits administration.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership position such as Finance Director, Head of Finance, or Financial Controller.
• Strong SME experience with a hands-on approach to finance leadership.
• Excellent knowledge of Sage 200 and Sage Payroll.
• Demonstrable experience in management reporting, statutory accounts, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Desirable Experience

• Manufacturing, chemicals, engineering, or industrial sector background.
• Experience supporting R&D tax credit claims.
• Exposure to international trading and multi-currency transactions.
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting within manufacturing environments.
