Job description

Finance Director

Artemis Executive Search has been retained by a high-growth, private equity-backed professional services firm with a global footprint. The business is scaling rapidly through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions and is seeking a commercially minded Finance Director to help drive the next phase of its growth journey.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, dynamic environment where finance plays a central role in strategic decision-making and value creation.

Role Overview

The Finance Director will be a critical member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial strategy, performance, and governance. The successful candidate will partner closely with the CEO and private equity stakeholders to shape and execute the company’s growth strategy, drive operational and financial efficiency, and support M&A activity.

This role requires a strategic thinker who is equally comfortable in the detail and at board level, with a deep understanding of the nuances of operating in a private equity environment, as well as working closely with the Belfast finance function in driving internal processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes across global operations.
  2. Provide strategic financial insight and support to the CEO, executive team, and board.
  3. Act as a trusted advisor to private equity partners, delivering clear, accurate, and timely reporting on business performance and KPIs.
  4. Play a leading role in identifying, evaluating, and integrating potential acquisitions.
  5. Drive operational and financial efficiency across the organisation by improving processes, systems, and controls.
  6. Ensure robust financial governance and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  7. Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  8. Lead cash flow and working capital management to support growth objectives.
  9. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and advisors.

What do we look for?

  1. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 5+ years post-qualification experience.
  2. Proven track record in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a global Professional or Financial Services business.
  3. Previously worked in a PE backed business.
  4. Experience supporting M&A transactions, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
  5. Strong commercial acumen with a data-driven and strategic mindset.
  6. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  7. Have been hands-on with financial figures and team in recent years.
