Job summary

Octopus Energy is seeking a Finance Data Manager to drive data-led decision making across finance, supply chain and operations. You will deliver cleaned, up-to-date information and insights to support business decisions and scalability.

You will work with a modern data stack including Python, DBT, Databricks and data applications to enable AI-enabled dashboards and reports. A fast-paced, collaborative culture awaits with a focus on sustainability and growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance team and with senior stakeholders.
• Proficiency in writing robust, performant SQL queries.
• Experience building robust data pipelines using Python and dbt.
• Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.
• Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Comfortable manipulating and analyzing data in a scripting language.

• Maintain, improve and coordinate monthly financial reports for C-suite.
• Create, maintain and optimise reporting for various streams of cost information.
• Use dbt and create semantic layers to inform AI-enabled dashboards, reports, and visualisations.
• Analyse and interpret data to track and improve commercial and operational performance.
• Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to identify opportunities for growth, optimisation and better service delivery.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis and support as required.

What you'll do

What you'll have

• Experience working within a finance team and senior stakeholders
• Proficiency in writing robust, performant SQL queries
• Some experience building robust data pipelines, using Python and dbt
• Strong analytical skills, commercial interest, and the ability to distinguish between what matters and what doesn't
• Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Comfortable manipulating and analysing data in a scripting language
